Services Procedure stages

Procedure stages

Micropigmentation procedures can be applied once, or they can be touched-up periodically, due to a mistaken design in facial features

Visagism study

In any of the cases it is esentially to carry out a design, prior study of the client's face, anatomy, facial expressions, expectations and needs. In this way the zone is structured, allowing the client to visualize how the final procedure might look.

Color and sensitivity test

Carrying out a color and sensitivity test ensures that the pigment and products that are going to be applied during a procedure are accepted by the client's body, giving a maximum safety guarantee. This will be carried out with seven days before the actual procedure.

Initial procedure

In this process the practitioner uses all micropigmentation methods and knowledge to obtain a satisfactory final result. In this phase the client will experience a change through this first procedure, obtaining a new design, colour, corrective and/or rejuvenating effect in the procedure area.

Pre-procedure care

A week before procedure:
  1. Avoid cold sores (only in the case of permanent makeup to the lips).

24 hours prior to procedure the client should avoid:
  1. Stimulants, such as tea, coffee, soft drinks containing caffeine or thein.
  2. Drugs or other substances containing stimulants ( consult a physician).
  3. Vasodilators: alcohol, acetylsalicylic acid, etc. If taking vasodilators under prescription, the client should consult their physician.
  4. Seafood, spicy, hot and strong foods.

Care during procedure

Several mesures can be taken to relax the client during procedure:
  1. In eyeliner application, the client should keep her eyes shut at all times. The technician will speak to the client, explaining each step and anticipating the next, letting the client know how she would react. This will help the client to relax.
  2. The client must feel confident that everything is under control and that the technician have the command of the tools in use.

If swelling occurs during the procedure, the following can be applied:
  1. Homeopathic substances. The client should see a pharmacist with homeopathic training.
  2. Chemical substances. Such as those used in eye tonics that immediately reduce swelling.
  3. Homemade remedies. Cold application relieves swelling. Crushed ice wrapped in latex and gauze and even aloe vera toweletes cooled in the refrigerator are very soothing.

When these tips are applied, the lymphatic system is stimulated and the swelling disappears or is considerably reduced.
  1. Do not use tea bags or fatty substances.
  2. People with high blood preasure or telangiectasias as well as those with naturally dark red lips ( due to microcirculation) tend to suffer extravasations during procedure.
  3. In case of excessive bleeding, before or the retouches, the client should contact a physician to get a vasoconstrictor substance prescribed.

Post-procedure care

Once the procedure is over, the client will be adviced to respect the following :
  1. Daily hygiene. Gently clean the area three times a day with a special cosmetic or saline solution applied with sterile gauze.
  2. Ice packs. If necessary, apply for 5v minutes in the first two days.
  3. Keep the treated area dry. Avoid saunas, swimming pools and the beach, etc.
  4. Do not harm the area. Do not scratch or rub, and avoid altering the healing process.
  5. Avoid cosmetics on the area. Do not undergo any facial or corporal procedures.
  6. Avoid using creams, makeup, cleansers, petroleum jelly (Vaseline), etc.

Follow-up protocol

In the first 10 days after procedure, the practitioner will carry out a control of the procedure. In the 24 hours immediately after procedure the practitioner will call the customer to enquire about the following:
  1. Wheter the client is cleaning the area correctly
  2. Asking the client to describe how the area feels, reminding her that she will begin to notice changes from day two: scabbing, increase in colour, tightness, etc. and explain that all of these phenomena are normal.

From the fifth to the eight day:
  1. The practitioner will call the client again to see if the process is going along normally. If any abnormal symptom were to be described, the client should make an appointment for an immediate check up and evaluation.

Touch-up after 30 Days

After 30 days an assessment will be carried out of the durability of the colour, the evenness of tone, deviation in colour, and whether or not the resulting design structure has changed, with the aim of redesigning or rebalancing this design

  1. Evaluation test and consider if the area needs any retouching
  2. Examination of saturation. If the pigment is evenly distributed throughout the area or if it has lost the colour at any point.
  3. Examination of design. The design is checked to make sure it is correct and that it has not suffered any deformation.

Revision after 12 months

After one year passed the client will need a subtle reaffirmation of the colour in order to mantain it in a perfect state

Renewal after 18 months

18 months is the period recommended after which it is advisable to carry out a new micropigmentation procedure with the aim of homogenizing and intensifying the colour or redoing the procedure to a partial or total loss of the structure of the design applied

Restructuring after 36 months

This is the maximum period recommended before the touch-up processes is carried out After 2 years a loss in homogenous colour and intensity can be observed, or a loght degrading in the colour.

With all the above information, a touch-up procedure is performed. Procedure maintenance advice After procedure, it is crucial for the client to take care of the following aspects regarding healing process in order to maintain the permanent makeup in good condition.

  1. Use sun block ( highest SPF) on the area.
  2. When undergoing procedures with glycolic acid, fruit acid, retinol and laser hair removal, special care should be taken when applying on the pigmented area to protect it and avoid unpleasant results ( changes in colour, burns,etc.).
  3. Touch-up the area every year or two to maintain the natural look of the colour and design.
